Case Study

Context: Educators often struggle to understand how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be effectively integrated into teaching and learning. Many educators, particularly those without a technology background, may be unaware of AI’s potential to enhance educational outcomes. This course aims to help educators grasp AI fundamentals and explore its practical applications in education, with the goal of fostering a more engaging and personalized learning experience.

Challenges: The target audience, primarily educators, has limited exposure to AI concepts and might be overwhelmed by its complexity. Additionally, some educators may face challenges in adopting new technologies due to time constraints, resistance to change, or lack of confidence in their tech skills. Ensuring that AI tools are accessible and beneficial to a diverse group of educators with varying levels of tech proficiency is a key obstacle.

Solutions: This course employs a blend of instructor-led training, hands-on activities, and interactive demonstrations to demystify AI in education. Educators will first learn the basics of AI, then progress to exploring AI-powered tools that can enhance lesson planning, student engagement, and assessment. Real-world examples of AI applications in the classroom will be shared, along with practical strategies for integrating these tools. Learners will have opportunities to experiment with AI tools in a supportive environment, helping them build confidence and competence.

Results: The course will be delivered in mid-2025, with follow-up surveys conducted to evaluate the impact on educators' understanding of AI and their ability to implement AI tools in their classrooms. Feedback will be collected to assess changes in educators' attitudes toward AI, their comfort with adopting new technologies, and any improvements in teaching effectiveness and student outcomes. Based on the results, the course will be refined to meet ongoing needs.
